Basketball Game Preview: Griffin Bears vs. Jonesboro Cardinals

Griffin is 1-9 against Jonesboro since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Griffin Bears will challenge the Jonesboro Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Griffin will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Griffin beat Central 54-43.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Jonesboro over Northside in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Jonesboro blew Northside out of the water with a 73-31 final score. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 26 points or more this season.

Griffin better keep an eye on Frank Jackson. He was instrumental in Jonesboro's win, going 9 of 14 on his way to 18 points and seven boards. What's more, Jackson also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Tim Prather was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.

Jonesboro's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Griffin, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Griffin couldn't quite finish off Jonesboro when the teams last played back in January and fell 65-62. Can Griffin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
