Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Aubrey walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Canton Eagles on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Chaparrals, who have now won eight games in a row.

Mya Cherry spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tamia Cherry, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carmen Alexander, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Aubrey's victory bumped their record up to 30-3. As for Canton, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 24-9-2 record.

Aubrey will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
