Basketball Game Preview: Omaha Northwest Huskies vs. Bryan Bears

Omaha Northwest is on an eight-game streak of home losses also dating back to last season, Bryan a seven-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Omaha Northwest Huskies will host the Bryan Bears at 7:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Omaha Northwest is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Omaha North on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Omaha Northwest was beaten by Omaha North 63-19. The matchup marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Michael Dubose put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Bryan managed to keep up with Omaha South until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Bryan lost 70-48 to Omaha South.

Omaha Northwest will have to contain Deon Darnell as he made an impact in Bryan's last game. He dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 37.5% of Bryan's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dymetri Clute, who earned two points along with six boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Bryan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Omaha Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Bryan, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.

Omaha Northwest took their win against Bryan in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 82-62. Will Omaha Northwest repeat their success, or does Bryan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
