Basketball Recap: Faith Christian's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Faith Christian had lost seven straight headed into Monday's game, but Mattea Maggio didn't let it get to eight. The Faith Christian Eagles came out on top against the Rossville Hornets by a score of 52-45 on Monday thanks in part to Maggio, who posted 31 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Johanna Haste was another key player, putting up two points along with eight rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Rossville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ava Burkle, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Burkle is becoming a predictor of Rossville's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 8-1 (and 4-5 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Chloe Darnell, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Faith Christian's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Rossville, they moved to 12-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Faith Christian is taking a road trip to challenge Shenandoah at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Faith Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Rossville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 48-37 win against Frontier on the 21st.
