The Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors will challenge the Wilson Prep Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mount Zion Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
Last Friday, Mount Zion Christian Academy strolled past East Chapel Hill with points to spare, taking the game 36-17.
It was another big night for Sherrad Bennard III, who threw for 210 yards and three TDs on only nine passes, and also rushed for 47 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mount Zion Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mount Zion Christian Academy's defense and their eight sacks. It was truly a group effort as Jahshua Fishe, Zachary Mason, and Lawrence Muldrow Jr picked up two apiece. Muldrow Jr is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wilson Prep duked it out with SouthWest Edgecombe on Friday. The Tigers fell 33-26 to the Cougars. Despite 272 more yards than the Cougars, the Tigers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Mount Zion Christian Academy will have to contain Travon Usher as he made an impact in Wilson Prep's last game. He rushed for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Usher is now averaging an impressive 103.5 rushing yards per game.
Wilson Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mount Zion Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Mount Zion Christian Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 178.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wilson Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 267.2 rushing yards.
