Basketball Recap: Jaylia Turner and Kerrie O'shields Secure Win for Dixie

There's no place like home for Dixie, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Ware Shoals Hornets with a sharp 44-23 win on Thursday. Dixie has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Dixie was led to victory by Kerrie O'Shields and Jaylia Turner. O'Shields posted 18 points along with seven boards and six steals, while Turner almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. That's the most steals Turner has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Carter, who had four points in addition to nine rebounds and five steals.

Despite the defeat, Ware Shoals saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Davis put up ten points.

Dixie's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.7 points per game. As for Ware Shoals, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Coincidentally, Dixie and Ware Shoals will both be playing Calhoun Falls Charter the next time they take the court. Dixie will head out to face Calhoun Falls Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Ware Shoals will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
