Softball Game Preview: Calallen Wildcats vs. Dickinson Gators

The Calallen Wildcats will challenge the Dickinson Gators at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last four games Calallen has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Calallen's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Foster 2-0.

The result came thanks to Bianca Gonzales's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.

On the hitting side, Calallen saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Thibodeaux, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, Thibodeaux posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Dickinson came up short against Crosby on Friday and fell 5-2. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dickinson's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Calallen, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.

Dickinson's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Calallen has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Dickinson, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Calallen keep running through batters, or will Dickinson buck the trend?

Calallen suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Dickinson in their previous meeting back in February of 2018. Can Calallen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
