Basketball Recap: Jefferson Falls Short of Martinsburg in the Playoffs

Jefferson and Martinsburg squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Jefferson had to settle for second. They fell 52-39 to the Martinsburg Bulldogs. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Martinsburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addyson Strovel out in front who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 15 points gave Strovel a new career-high. Aaliyah Wymer was another key player, shooting 67% from the field to rack up 16 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Martinsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martinsburg, they will square off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Washington sitting on three straight victories and Martinsburg on four.
