Football Game Preview: Monte Vista Mustangs vs. San Ramon Valley Wolves + How To Watch

Monte Vista is 1-9 against San Ramon Valley since October of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will face off against the Wolves at 7:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Monte Vista after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Amador Valley, falling 35-14. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dons 7-0 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, San Ramon Valley entered their contest against De La Salle last Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wolves were dealt a 56-7 loss at the hands of the Spartans. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-4. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.

Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Monte Vista has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 160 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for San Ramon Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 88.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Monte Vista was dealt a bruising 38-7 defeat at the hands of San Ramon Valley when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Rhett Thompson (who threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
