Baseball Recap: Anacoco Comes Up Short

Anacoco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Grant Cougars, falling 14-7. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 12-11 to the Cougars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Riley Hayes and Rodney Wilson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hayes scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Wilson scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Hayes a new career-high in hits.

Anacoco's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Grant, their win bumped their record up to 3-12.

Looking ahead, Anacoco will take on Merryville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anacoco has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Grant, they will welcome Lakeside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grant is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Lakeside a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
