Baseball Recap: Warrenton Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Warrenton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Winfield 4-3. Warrenton hasn't had any issues with Winfield recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Colin Disilvester made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Disilvester wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Richard Standley, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Keegan Mellegaard also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Warrenton pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Winfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Warrenton will take on Liberty at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winfield, they will challenge Holt at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
