Preview: Glenns Ferry Pilots vs. Oakley Hornets

Glenns Ferry is 1-8 against Oakley since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Glenns Ferry Pilots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oakley Hornets at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Glenns Ferry faced Lighthouse Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Glenns Ferry fell 38-28 to Lighthouse Christian. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Glenns Ferry was blown out by Lighthouse Christian in the second.

Despite the defeat, Glenns Ferry had strong showings from Bryce Sterling, who picked up 31 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Landon Stuart, who threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Josiah Valencia also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Oakley had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Valley, posting a 70-14 win at home. The result was nothing new for Oakley, who have now won six games by 22 points or more so far this season.

Glenns Ferry's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Oakley and 6-2 Hagerman (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.5% over those games). Oakley has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matchups, giving them a 6-1 record.

Glenns Ferry was dealt a bruising 62-6 loss at the hands of Oakley in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Glenns Ferry have more luck at home instead of on the road?
