Baseball Game Preview: Sunset Knights vs. Coral Reef Barracudas

The Sunset Knights will challenge the Coral Reef Barracudas at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Sunset has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Sunset is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since May 1, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hialeah Gardens by a score of 4-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coral Reef). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Goleman a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Barracudas considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Coral Reef got a great performance from Adrian Nunez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Nunez is becoming a predictor of Coral Reef's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Adrian Romero was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Oscar Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Coral Reef kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Sunset's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Coral Reef, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.
