Softball Recap: Calhoun Drops Season-High Score on Griggsville-Perry

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calhoun). They put the hurt on the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes with a sharp 20-1 win on Monday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Audrey Gilman and Layla Longnecker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gilman struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Longnecker tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Gilman scored three runs while going 1-for-3, while Longnecker scored a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Lilly Pelletier was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-5. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lacy Pohlman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5.

Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Calhoun's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Griggsville-Perry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Calhoun will head out to square off against Routt Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Griggsville-Perry, they will welcome Seymour at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
