Baseball Game Preview: Amelia Academy Patriots vs. Life Christian Academy Eagles

The Amelia Academy Patriots will face off against the Life Christian Academy Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Amelia Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Amelia Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Fuqua. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Falcons. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Aiden Long was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 12 over 4.1 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Amelia Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Amir Hall and Jacob Creswell did most of the damage at the plate: Hall scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Creswell scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Kaivin Dowell was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

Amelia Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Life Christian Academy lost 10-3 to Trinity Episcopal on Wednesday.

Life Christian Academy's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Amelia Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
