Football Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. East Greenwich Avengers + How To Watch

The Classical Purple will head out on the road to square off against the East Greenwich Avengers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Classical is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Thursday, Classical was able to grind out a solid victory over Chariho, taking the game 22-9.

The critical scores for Classical came from Tahmeed Moshood, Josiah Nyakoon, and Silas Mckay.

Classical's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Moshood was especially locked on to Chariho's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, East Greenwich lost to Mt. Hope at home by a 28-13 margin on Friday. While the Avengers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Huskies 6-0.

Classical will need to focus on slowing down Christian Bussiere, one of several East Greenwich players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 175 receiving yards and one TD. Bussiere didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble, made three total tackles, and defended one pass. Mark Bradshaw was another key player, throwing for 270 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

East Greenwich didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jack Spitzer and Ethan Costa.

Classical's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for East Greenwich, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Classical against East Greenwich in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-7 victory. In that matchup, the Purple amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
