Basketball Preview: Brevard Blue Devils vs. Chase Trojans
Brevard is 5-0 against the Trojans since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Brevard Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chase Trojans at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Brevard's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Trojans have been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Brevard took a serious blow against the Lions, falling 78-47. While losing is never fun, Brevard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Lions are ranked 113th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tre Crite, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ben Kessinger, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chase pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 87-61 loss to East Rutherford might stick with them for a while. Chase was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-28.
Brevard's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Chase, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17.
Everything came up roses for Brevard against the Trojans when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 80-49 victory. Will Brevard repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
