Baseball Game Preview: Country Christian Cougars vs. Western Christian Pioneers

For the second straight game, Country Christian will face off against Western Christian. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Country Christian has seven straight wins, Western Christian has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Country Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Western Christian with a sharp 19-3 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cougars with their most commanding win of the season.

Tyson Smith was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Country Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Andrew Lee, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Country Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Country Christian's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Western Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
