Basketball Recap: Hiram's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hiram had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past the Fort Dorchester Patriots with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 66-52. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Hornets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 380th in Georgia, while the Patriots are ranked 98th in South Carolina).

Despite the defeat, Fort Dorchester saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maurice Cannon posted 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Cannon. Maricious Dawson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Hiram's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Fort Dorchester, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Hiram will take on St. Andrew's at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th. As for Fort Dorchester, they are taking a road trip to take on Woodland at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th.
