Baseball Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Beats Altamonte Christian for Their Third Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, Trinity Christian Academy rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 27-2 margin over Altamonte Christian. Trinity Christian Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Bryson Maples and Dominic Bafundo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Maples struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Meanwhile, Bafundo pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Trinity Christian Academy's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 8-14 when he doesn't). At bat, Maples scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Bafundo scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Maples a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Richaun Amaro was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Trinity Christian Academy is 8-2 when Amaro posts two or more runs, but 4-12 otherwise. The win (which was Trinity Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 12-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Altamonte Christian, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Trinity Christian Academy will take on Circle Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Centurions have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Altamonte Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
