Kearney Catholic came tearing into Saturday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.1 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Gering Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Give Kearney Catholic's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Something new happened on Saturday as Hunter Key saw his first action of the season, playing 80 minutes against Gering. Key made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Kearney Catholic pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Gering, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
