Baseball Recap: North Farmington Raiders vs. Stevenson Spartans
North Farmington extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-17 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Stevenson Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-1 loss last Saturday.
As for Stevenson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-15-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.
For Stevenson's part, Christian Lang was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Lang is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-15-1 when he doesn't).
Looking ahead, North Farmington is taking a road trip to face off against West Bloomfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lakers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Stevenson, they will take on Belleville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
