Football Recap: Pope Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Pope extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were outmatched by the Sequoyah Chiefs and fell 70-13. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Chiefs are ranked 27th).

As for Sequoyah, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1. Considering they have won six games by more than 30 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sequoyah's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kolby Martin, who threw for 169 yards and five TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. That's the most passing touchdowns Martin has posted since back in November of 2024. Another rusher making a difference was Will Rajecki, who gained 120 total yards and two touchdowns.
