Basketball Recap: Junior Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Metro-East Lutheran over Collinsville

After flying high against KIPP last Saturday, Metro-East Lutheran came back down to earth. The Metro-East Lutheran Knights fell to the Collinsville Kahoks 46-42. The Knights have struggled against the Kahoks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Junior Brown, who posted ten points and five assists. Ian Skelton was another key player, putting up seven points.

Collinsville's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stanley Carnahan, who put up eight points and five boards. What's more, Carnahan also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Donovan Coates, who scored 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Metro-East Lutheran's record is now 11-9. As for Collinsville, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-11.

Metro-East Lutheran has already played their next contest, a 74-46 win against SIUE East St. Louis Charter on the 29th. As for Collinsville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-55 victory against Belleville West on the 31st.
