Baseball Recap: Canyon Comes Up Short

Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Marcos Rattlers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since March 9, 2024.

Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for San Marcos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7-1 record this season.

Canyon will challenge Pieper at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Marcos, they will square off against Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rattlers 3.4, the Jaguars 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
