Recap: Atkinson County Rebels vs. McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers
The Atkinson County Rebels had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 64-35 win over McIntosh County Academy at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Atkinson County has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atkinson County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Northcutt has scored at least 25% of Atkinson County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Moore, who scored 12 points.
Atkinson County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for McIntosh County Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atkinson County and Jeff Davis will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McIntosh County Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brantley County at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th.
