Softball Recap: Calera's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Calera came into Wednesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Pelham Panthers 12-1 on Wednesday. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

The team relied heavily on Mia Wade, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Morgan, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Wade wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Calera kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pelham only managed four hits.

Calera's win bumped their record up to 2-12. As for Pelham, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calera will take on Chilton County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chilton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season. As for Pelham, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Pelham Panthers face off against Briarwood Christian Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. They have given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
