Soccer Game Preview: Northampton vs. Arcadia

The Northampton Yellowjackets will face off against the Arcadia Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northampton has four straight victories, Arcadia has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Northampton is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let West Point get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Arcadia fell victim to Gloucester and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Dukes, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Arcadia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Gloucester are ranked 25th).

Arcadia's loss dropped their record down to 4-8-1. As for Northampton, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-8.

Northampton beat Arcadia 3-1 when the teams last played last Wednesday. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Firebirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
