Preview: Mitchell Marauders vs. Banning Lewis Academy Stallions
The Mitchell Marauders will face off against the Banning Lewis Academy Stallions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mitchell is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Mitchell suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Widefield, falling 64-24. Mitchell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
Meanwhile, Banning Lewis Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 48-42 to Lamar. Banning Lewis Academy has struggled against Lamar recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ashtyn McKean, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Natalia Burton was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Mitchell's loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Banning Lewis Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Mitchell was dealt a bruising 68-15 defeat at the hands of Banning Lewis Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Mitchell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
