Softball Recap: Clearfield's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Clearfield had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Woods Cross Wildcats a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jenna Lloyd made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexandra Bingham, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Leonhardt, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Clearfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are 10-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win (which was Clearfield's third in a row) raised their record to 15-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woods Cross, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16.

As of now, neither Clearfield nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
