Football Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Victorious

Lugoff-Elgin got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They snuck past the Blythewood Bengals with a 42-38 victory. For the Demons, this counts as revenge for the 37-24 win the Bengals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Blythewood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Veasey, who threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 62 yards and one score. Landyn Strong also helped with two TDs in total.

Lugoff-Elgin now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Blythewood, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lugoff-Elgin will welcome Ridge View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Demons will need to watch out since the Blazers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Blythewood, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against West Florence at 7:30 p.m. The Bengals will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
