Mason Mortensen and Tyus Becker secure win for Herington

Recap: Herington Railroaders vs. Northern Heights Wildcats

Even though the Herington Railroaders have not done well against the Northern Heights Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Herington came out on top in a nail-biter against Northern Heights and snuck past 51-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Herington.

Leading Herington to victory were Mason Mortensen and Tyus Becker. Mortensen scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Becker scored 17 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Becker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tristen Swarts, who scored nine points.

Herington's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Northern Heights, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Herington will take on Canton-Galva at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northern Heights, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Burlingame.
