Football Recap: Antelope Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Eastside

Antelope Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 27-18 to the Eastside Lions. On the bright side, the 18- point performance marked the Antelopes' highest-scoring matchup to date.

When it comes to explaining why Antelope Valley lost, don't look at Maddox Caldwell. Despite the final result, he rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.

Sior Gilkey had a dynamite game For Eastside., rushing for 90 yards and one TD on only six carries. Gilkey also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Santiago Pineda was another key player, having thrown for 255 yards and onetouchdown.

Antelope Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Eastside, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Caldwell and Elleyon Clark. Meanwhile, Eastside is set to face off against their familiar foe Highland at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
