Basketball Recap: Austin Brickley Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat South

Cuyahoga Falls posted their biggest victory since February 28, 2024 on Saturday. Everything went their way against the South Rebels as the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers made off with a 73-49 win. The Black Tigers pushed the score to 53-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels cut but never quite recovered from.

Cuyahoga Falls' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Brickley, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 14 points along with six assists and five boards. That's the most rebounds Brickley has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Smith, who made all 6 shots he took to post 14 points.

Brickley wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Cuyahoga Falls was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Cuyahoga Falls' victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for South, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Cuyahoga Falls will venture away from home to square off against Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Louisville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Cuyahoga Falls likes a good challenge. South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
