Basketball Recap: Chris Pompilus Key Part of a Team Effort in Raiders Win

There's no place like home for Glades Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down the Immokalee Indians 73-58 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 46-40 last Thursday.

Glades Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Pompilus, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. De'Marques Brown was another key player, going 6 for 13 en route to 17 points.

Glades Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Immokalee only racked up eight assists.

Despite the defeat, Immokalee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Timarian Howard almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. The matchup was Howard's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshon Jackson, who posted nine points.

Glades Central's record is now 16-4. As for Immokalee, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Glades Central will face off against Bishop Verot on Wednesday. Glades Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season. As for Immokalee, they will challenge Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Immokalee's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
