Clay and Anthony Wayne are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2015, but not for long. The Eagles will square off against the Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clay comes in on seven and Anthony Wayne on 18.
Clay saw some tournament action on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Ross.
Clay had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Anthony Wayne earned a 3-1 victory over Northview on Monday.
In the three sets Anthony Wayne was on fire: they won each by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 26-28, 25-10, 25-9.
Clay better focus on containing Jessie Kennelly and Charley Gardner as the pair were huge in Anthony Wayne's win. Kennelly had nine digs and two aces, while Gardner had 24 kills, 17 digs, and three aces. Gardner has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 35 times she's played.
Anthony Wayne was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northview only served four.
Clay's record now sits at 17-6. As for Anthony Wayne, their record is now 22-1.
Clay came up short against Anthony Wayne in their previous matchup back in August, falling 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kennelly, who had 19 digs and two aces.
