Volleyball Recap: Sophie Cumberland and Marysa Stroud Secure Win for Manchester

Manchester hadn't done well against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Squires blew past the Braves 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Squires also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Manchester never let Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-22, 25-15.

Leading Manchester to victory were Marysa Stroud and Sophie Cumberland. Stroud had 17 digs and two assists, while Cumberland had 13 assists. Those 17 digs gave Stroud a new career-high.

Manchester's win bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-15.

Manchester and Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Squires (ranked 87th) will meet Southwood (ranked 18th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian will face off against South Adams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (200 vs. 83).
