Softball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Emerson's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Emerson rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Creekview Mustangs. Considering the Mavericks have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Amilee Stapp was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ellie Thurman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Emerson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Emerson is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Creekview, they moved to 19-15 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Emerson will challenge Lovejoy on Saturday. The last three games the Leopards have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Creekview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
