Basketball Recap: Sarah Rhyne and Curmiya Tillman Secure Win for Lincolnton

Lincolnton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Patton Panthers 56-32. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wolves had established a 23 point advantage.

Lincolnton was led to victory by Curmiya Tillman and Sarah Rhyne. Tillman posted 16 points and six rebounds, while Rhyne put up eight points and 14 boards. That's the most boards Rhyne has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Johnson, who scored eight points.

Lincolnton pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Patton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincolnton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Newton-Conover at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton-Conover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. As for Patton, they will face off against East Rutherford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
