Draughn hasn't had much luck against Hibriten recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Draughn has given up an average of 48.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Draughn's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against East Rutherford on Friday. They were dealt a 57-0 defeat at the hands of the Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 142nd).
Meanwhile, Hibriten was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Chase 62-32. Considering the Panthers have won four matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Draughn better keep an eye on Dk Mitchell. He was instrumental in Hibriten's win, rushing for 175 yards and six TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Mitchell is now averaging an impressive 106 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Grady Beam, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Hibriten was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Hibriten's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ashton Woodruff, Kolbin MacKey, and Lawson Jenkins, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Hibriten pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for Draughn, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Draughn was taken down by Hibriten 56-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2021. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wildcats were down 35-0.
