Newton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They strolled past the Eastside Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 39-24. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 26-15 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin Hartsfield, who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Darius White was in the mix as well, providing the Rams with two TDs.

Despite the loss, Eastside still got an impressive performance from Myles Mims, who rushed for 132 yards and a pair of scores. Another player making a difference was Payton Shaw, who threw for 150 yards and one touchdown.

Newton has already played their next contest, a 62-6 victory against Alcovy on the 22nd. As for Eastside, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-0 win against Hiram on the 21st.
