Soccer Game Preview: Phelps vs. McDonogh

The Phelps Lions will head out on the road to challenge the McDonogh Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Phelps is headed into Friday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Mercersburg Academy.

Meanwhile, McDonogh kept a clean sheet against Hereford back in September. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Bulls.

McDonogh's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Phelps, their loss dropped their record down to 18-7-2.

Phelps came up short against McDonogh in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
