Softball Recap: West Vigo's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Two

West Vigo won against Casey-Westfield last Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. West Vigo beat the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-4. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 10-8 win the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jaleigh Lindley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Grace Rogers was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Elkins, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

West Vigo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terre Haute North Vigo struck out ten times.

West Vigo has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

West Vigo and Terre Haute North Vigo will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time West Vigo sees the field they'll take on South Vermillion at 5:00 p.m. on April 9. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, their break will end when they face Sullivan at 5:00 p.m. on April 7.
