Recap: North Park Wildcats vs. Dolores Bears

The North Park Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 52-45 to Dolores. North Park was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dolores apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why North Park lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Pittington. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds. Pittington scored a full 42.2% of North Park's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Cornelison, who scored 11 points.

Dolores' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Palate, who scored 15 points along with 3 steals. Palate has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Trayton Traweek was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds.

North Park's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Dolores, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

North Park will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Encampment at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. As for Dolores, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monticello at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monticello is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
