Basketball Recap: Sterling Comes Up Short

Sterling has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Brook Bruins. The Rangers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bruins from their previous meeting back in February of 2020.

Leading West Brook to victory were Elijah Garrett and Terry Satcher. Garrett went 10 of 17 en route to 28 points along with six boards and five steals, while Satcher dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Satcher a new career-high in assists (six). Austin Stewart was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for West Brook, the win was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-1.

Sterling and West Brook should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Sterling (ranked 404th) will meet Lee (ranked 1191st) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, West Brook (ranked 13th) will meet Port Arthur Memorial (ranked 96th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
