Basketball Recap: Bishop Snyder Takes a Loss

Bishop Snyder lost against Ponte Vedra back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bishop Snyder Cardinals received a blow as they fell 65-51 to the Ponte Vedra Sharks. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Sharks are ranked 104th).

Ponte Vedra was led to victory by David Sanchez Barrera and Maddox Palmer. Sanchez Barrera went 6 of 9 on his way to 18 points along with eight steals and five assists, while Palmer almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Palmer also racked up six assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trace Westercamp, who posted nine points and seven blocks.

Bishop Snyder's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Ponte Vedra, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Bishop Snyder Cardinals face off against the Impact Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ponte Vedra, they will take on Oakleaf at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Oakleaf knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Ponte Vedra likes a good challenge.
