Recap: Mid Peninsula Wolverines vs. Mackinac Island Lakers

On Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Mid Peninsula had to settle for a 37-34 loss against Mackinac Island.

Mackinac Island's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lakelyn Bunker led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds. Bunker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Makayla Rickley was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and six steals.

Mid Peninsula's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Mackinac Island, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mid Peninsula will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Big Bay de Noc at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Big Bay de Noc will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Mid Peninsula surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mackinac Island, they will head out on the road to challenge Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
