Football Game Preview: Slocomb Red Tops vs. Northside Methodist Academy Knights + How To Watch

Slocomb has gone a perfect 3-0 against Northside Methodist Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Red Tops will take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Slocomb will be strutting in after a win while Northside Methodist Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Slocomb turned things around against Geneva on Friday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 28-20. The game was the first time the Red Tops have beaten the Panthers on their field since October 19, 2018.

Slocomb can attribute much of their success to Hayes Hatton, who gained 142 total yards and three touchdowns, and Weston Sasser, who threw for 106 yards and two TDs. The dominant performance also gave Sasser a new career-high in rushing yards (49).

Meanwhile, Northside Methodist Academy took a blow against Montgomery Academy last Friday, falling 62-6. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Eagles are ranked 95th).

Slocomb's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Northside Methodist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Slocomb strolled past Northside Methodist Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 40-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Tops since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
