Basketball Game Preview: Topeka Trojans vs. Hayden Wildcats

The Topeka Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Hayden Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Topeka is looking for their season's first win.

Topeka is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Washburn Rural on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Topeka took a blow against Washburn Rural, falling 79-41. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Blues are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Hayden hadn't done well against Junction City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Hayden walked away with a 64-55 victory over Junction City.

Hayden is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Topeka, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14-1.

Topeka lost to Hayden on the road by a decisive 65-50 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Topeka avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
