Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks vs. Weskan Coyotes

The Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Weskan, falling 69-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wheatland-Grinnell has suffered since December 1, 2023.

Wheatland-Grinnell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Tuttle, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tuttle has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Mason, who scored six points along with two blocks.

Even though they lost, Wheatland-Grinnell were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Trey Allen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 21 rebounds for Weskan. Allen is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Judah Crow was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals.

Wheatland-Grinnell bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Weskan, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Wheatland-Grinnell will head out on the road to challenge Western Plains/Healy at 7:31 p.m. on Friday. As for Weskan, they will be playing at home against Northern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
